Sean went to Pittsburgh for some training and had an interesting conversation with the lady in the hotel gift shop.
Lady: Where are you from?
Sean: Wichita, Kansas.
Lady: Do you have a horse???
Sean (laughing): No.
Lady: I’ve been to Wyoming once. It was pretty.

Now, if Sean had only thought to mention the true fact that his grandfather had been a lawman in Dodge City…

Andy had his first flag football game right after Katie’s soccer game. I no longer have any questions about why mouthguards are a good idea for this sport. Non-contact my eye.

Andy played lots of positions…not all of which I could identify. This one I know, though…Quarterback.

Here he’s being some sort of running maniac…sorry folks, it’s as good as I can do.
He played most of the game, on both offense and defense, and loved every minute of it. I would guess his favorite minutes were the two during which he intercepted passes.

I think he’s blitzing in this picture. He says he remembers this picture because he did a face plant right afterwards. Thank you, mouthguard.

The final score was 19-0 in Andy’s team’s favor. Go Wildcats!
And some fan pics:

Methinks Jonathan may have gotten a little too much sun.

And Ellie’s just had her sports quota…she’s done.

Katie had her first soccer game this afternoon. It was hot, the field was enormous (Sean says it’s the same size as last year), and the girls ran hard!

Right before the game…Katie started out in her favorite position: Defender.
Her coach, in speaking to us, referred to her as a tenacious bulldog. Here’s one reason why:

Think she’s serious? Check out the fists. And the face. Mean Katie.

She really is this small compared to the other players.

This is the face of a little girl who scored her first goal, shortly after being moved up to Forward. The score ended up 1-0, so she was extra proud of her efforts.

Nice game, sweetie!

The fans were very happy.

Andy was having flag football practice, Katie was having soccer practice, and Jonathan and Ellie and I were cooling our heels…

There was lots of room for running, rolling, running, chasing, running…and hunting. Ellie hunted for flowers:

Jonathan hunted for bugs:

One person’s quarry came home and one didn’t. I’ll let you guess which was which.

Ellie: Mom, you know what I hate? Getting pinched a lot.
Mom: When are you getting pinched?
Ellie: You know, Mom. CRABS!
Mom: Ellie, when have you ever been pinched by a crab?
Ellie: Far Away Lizzy (Anderson) had a crab one time, but it wasn’t allowed on beds.
Mom: Did it pinch you?
Ellie: No, but I hate that. I really hate that.

My computer and I are getting better acquainted, and thanks to my kind and generous hubby, I am also taking baby steps in finding my way around a completely different photo editing software program. (Is “software program” redundant? Ah, terminology!) So far I can upload pictures, resize them, and turn everything in them to a sick shade of green. Not bad for a first day.

And here is the lovely Katie, showing another beginning that’s commencing to get started around here: Fall Sports. She is geared up for her first soccer practice, complete with these attractive pieces of protective equipment (and cleats and sock to match!), I’m not sure she’s taken them off since her daddy brought them home. Andy has his first flag football practice tonight, for which he was required to have a mouth guard. If you’re really lucky, you might get to see a picture with that lovely apparatus. Until then, ponder the necessity of mouth guards in a non-contact sport.

Why would more advanced computers be unable to run less advanced programs? Wouldn’t it make more sense for more efficient and advanced computers to run less advanced programs more efficiently?
I’m just sayin’.

Andy: Mom, you know how Michael Phelps burns 4000 calories a workout? You should start doing whatever he’s doing.

Katie was explaining how she knew it was hot outside early this morning:
“Well, I went out with the vacuum thing, ya know, to unfill it, and I could tell it was going to be really hot today.”
