We watched with great curiosity as a strange looking vine grew out of the compost pile. We weren’t quite sure what it was until a tiny fruit appeared.
We kept watching, and the fruit didn’t get much bigger. The other day Kaele and I decided it was time to pick it and see how it turned out. Neither of us were brave enough to actually cut it open, though. We left that office in the good hands of a ravenous boy, who found, to all of our amazement, that it almost looked normal.
It was even pronounced to be tasty! Hooray for volunteer produce from the compost pile!
We might even try to grow some on purpose next year.
